TECHNICAL EDUCATION NETWORKS CONFERENCES SHOWCASING TEACHING MATERIALS AND RESEARCH
Gatsby’s Technical Education Networks Programme hosted its first conferences for the Digital and Health & Science routes in Manchester on 4 July 2023.
The Technical Education Networks (TEN) programme aims to support technical education teachers delivering an engaging and enriched curriculum for their students. The programme draws on the expertise of specialist teachers, employers and professional bodies. Using this insight we commission research, develop teaching resources and host events to support technical education teaching.
The first Technical Education Networks (TEN) programme route event for Digital and Health & Science were held at The Midland Hotel, Manchester on Tuesday 4 July 2023. The day focused on the technical education curriculum for T-levels in Digital and Health & Science routes and showcased early teaching resources from the TEN programme.
In collaboration with the Association of Colleges, over 140 delegates from providers around the country attended the conference with 26 speakers from organisations including the Department for Education, Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, NCFE, Pearson and Ofsted.
Presenters sharing their curriculum and industry placement practice included Mid Kent College, Calderdale College, Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICS and Digital Skills. Several of the conference sessions included professional dialogue opportunities facilitated by members of the TEN programme Specialist Teacher Groups in each route, enabling delegates to share expertise from their own delivery. Resources produced with guidance form the networks’ specialist teacher groups were introduced, including Digital materials from the Raspberry Pi Foundation. This first tranche of teaching materials will be released in January 2024 via the programme website, www.technicaleducationnetworks.org.uk.
