New analysis shows destinations of second cohort of T-level students
T-levels open more doors for young people to employment, higher education and apprenticeships.

A report released today, T-level Thursday, shows T-levels opening more doors for young people to employment, higher education and apprenticeships. Data on the destinations of 1,202 of the T-level students who completed their course in 2023 (35% of the total cohort) showed that:
- 28% progressed into employment
- 11% progressed to an apprenticeship, including degree apprenticeships
- 47% progressed to higher education (Levels 4-6)
- 5% progressed to a further education (FE) course
- 9% had other destinations, including actively seeking work or an apprenticeship, or had taken a gap year
The survey, conducted by research consultancy RCU, was sent to all providers identified as offering a T-level course in the academic year 2022/23.
Subjects completed by this second cohort of T-level students include those from Construction, Digital, Education and Early Years and Health and Science routes.
We are extremely grateful to the many providers who have collaborated with us on this research, sharing the great outcomes for their students. The latest dataset builds on data from the first cohort and demonstrates the wide range of progression options that T-levels provide for young people, and that they are effective in equipping students to make that transition to their preferred next career step.
This annual survey of student destinations gives insights for students, parents, and providers, by demonstrating the range of paths that T-levels lead to in apprenticeships, further study, or directly into employment which for some students is with the same employer who hosted their 45-day industry placement.”
