Employers recognised for their role in T-level successes

9 November 2023 Natasha Watkinson

On the 4th October, during T-levels Week, the Department for Education, in partnership with Gatsby, hosted an evening of T-level celebrations at the Science Museum London.

T-level providers nominated employers who have made outstanding contributions to T-level delivery so far. Almost 150 employers were recognised for their commitment to providing industry placements and supporting the next generation of skilled employees.

The event was held on Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery, which brings to life some of the rewarding technician careers T-levels can open up to young people. Host for the evening was former BBC journalist and presenter, Louise Minchin. The audience heard from Robert Halfon MP, Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education; Lord David Sainsbury; and Ray Olive, Chair of the T-level Ambassador Network, about the part T-levels already play in meeting the country’s skills needs and how employer support is crucial to equip more young people to enter fulfilling careers. An employer – Rosie McLaren, Head of Social Value at Willmott Dixon – and T-level student Ajrienne Kolapo who has recently completed her placement at Lloyds Banking Group also spoke about their experiences and how engaging with T-levels has benefitted both organisations and individuals.

Video highlights from the celebration can be found here.
