We supported the annual Computational and Systems Neuroscience (Cosyne) conference for over a decade to develop new initiatives to ensure the future success of the conference. Primarily this involved promoting and enabling attendance of undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from underrepresented groups.
We partnered with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Wellcome to support a project that reviewed and led to a significant update to the training curriculum and available resources for psychiatrists, specifically aimed at increasing the neuroscience component to meet the needs of modern day mental health research and treatment.
We were part of an international consortium that funded the development of the first version of Neuropixels, an advanced neural recording probe for research applications in animals.
We along with Wellcome jointly funded the development of this centre with a scientific focus on circuit mechanisms underpinning adaptive behaviour.

In 2012 we launched a partnership with the Kavli Foundation to support the Society for Neuroscience to develop an online source of authoritative information about the progress and promise of brain research.
We supported (2010-2017) this consortium of five laboratories at three institutes across California that developed and refined tools for the functional analysis of cortical circuits underlying higher brain function, such as visual perception and attention.
We supported WiredDifferently, a non-for-profit organisation leading several citizen science projects for neuroscience.
From 2008 to 2013 we supported this consortium, which used hardware, software and biological tools separately developed in laboratories at three US institutes to collectively enable the construction of “connectomes” – wiring diagrams of whole regions of the nervous system.
We supported Professor Michael Häusser from 2001 to 2013 to expand the research and technology in his laboratory, in particular in the area of high resolution investigation of circuits.
The primary aim of this group is to improve the delivery of targeted therapies to the brain to treat a range of neurological disorders and tumours. To this end, in 2010 we funded the purchase of a 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner.
