In February 2012, 396 teachers in secondary schools and further education colleges in England were surveyed on their views and experiences of practical work in science.
In November 2011, 545 parents of pupils in secondary schools on their views of practical work in science. The results show parents are strongly in favour of practical work in school science.
In 2011, key science staff in Russell Group universities were surveyed about the standard of new undergraduates' laboratory skills. The results suggest that A levels are not adequately preparing even the brightest students for science courses in our top universities.
In November 2011, STEM employers were surveyed on the skills and knowledge of new employees to see whether science A levels are adequately preparing school-leavers for science roles in the workplace.
